Carnivale Nocturna celebrates alternative designers by making them accessible to the public, breaking the line between the catwalk and the audience, all within a carnival atmosphere complete with performances and visual displays.

Preparations for Circa Nocturna 2009 are well under way, and we are putting out feelers for New designers for next year.

Circa Nocturna is the largest Alternative Fashion show in Australia, with around 14 alternative designers participating from all over the country.

The 2009 show is looking at a number of changes from last year. We have new blood on the team, and are looking at including a larger after party event, a larger catwalk, increased promotion and more sophisticated web presence.

As yet the dates for L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, are not set, though I am told they will be late March, 2009.

Applications will be on the web site (www.circanocturna.com) next week. In the meantime, if you would like to ask any questions, ask here CNdesignersapp@assassinus.com or call Bernard on 0401 561 866. We have limited spots for designers, we restrict the designers on the catwalk to around 14.

Well its all over for this year. We had a great turn up, and the show went off well... a few minor hiccups we will be addressing for next year.

Melbourne Alternative Fashion Festival - Circa Nocturna 2008

Circa Nocturna - is back for 2008.
We are currently looking for Designers. Space normally allows for 8 established designers and 6 new/upcoming designers.

Our date for next year is Saturday 8th March. If you are an interested designer, please check the website in a week or so and have a look for the application form.

We are looking at a number of chnges, based on a range of feedback we have sought and received, so next years CN MAFS should be quite a different event.

We survived another one!!! We did particularly well, we had 350 attendees, which is up on last year....and the Hall was so pretty, though a tad hot! Lots of people commented that it was better than last year, though last years performances were damn cool.

Big thanks to all that helped, the designers, sponsors, Mel the wonderful poster warriro, judges, punters models and the photographers who took pics on the day. IN particular thanks to Sha at Blue Skies arts promotion.

Now we sit down, pay the bills, work on the DVD and very soon, it will be time to start again :-)

Tickets at the venue are limited to around 400, because of size, so make sure you don't miss out.

We have been going somewhat mannic with the advertising, we have an article coming up in inpress, most of the alternative shops have put posters in the windows, and posters put up right through the Northcote/Westgarth/Brunswick gertrude and Smith Streets.

We also got Brent Leidilitz's photo of Dragonsblood model, Atrophy in the very stylish LMFF programme. Paper Skies art promotions have been going hell for leather promoting us.....we love those guys!

Beserk in Alt Fashion

Alt Fashion is a great UK magazine that focuses on alternative subcultural fashion in the UK. It grew out of the Alt fashion online site The site caters for all alternative sub-cultures it may not seem so at first but from retro to goth to 'emo' to indie & so on.

As well as Exposing the public to alot of the UK's alternative clothing companies through the sites news page.

Anyways, the latest issue features Beserk clothing from the Brisbane, so great to see an Australian designer getting some publicitity overseas.

Well shoot went well. Twa's along day. Well worth it, we got some amazing pics, which should go well to promote the shoot. All up, we probably took about a thousand pics, so the best of those will go to posters, Flyers and to spruce up the web site.

The one thing that alternative fashion has got going for it is that it can create some amazing, stand out images...alternative designs, while not always practical, are often very amazing to look at.

Thanks to all the designers for coming along, and to all the models for being so patient. And big thanks to Elaine for taking pics for us..all 6 hours of it.

L'Oreal have asked us to move the date...so we have moved it back to Friday 2nd March.
Still 5 months off, so hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too much.

Good thing about this is, we will be the first parade of LMFF arts programme...andIt also means we will be able so see a lot of the other programme for influences for next year.
